Businesses who wish to showcase their goods and services at the Regional Business Fair are urged to register now.
The Regional Business Fair, which will take place from 23 to 25 June 2017 at the KwaMnyandu Shopping Centre in Umlazi, provides a platform for both small and big businesses to market their products to prospective consumers.
EThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede encouraged businesses to register, as showcasing businesses on this platform will accelerate growth and provide economic opportunities for the small business sector in townships and rural areas.
“These business fairs are one of the Municipality’s programmes that have made tremendous progress in developing the small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) sector in the City. It is through such interventions that the Municipality is able to respond to business and economic development challenges in marginalised areas,” said Mayor Gumede.
This year’s Regional Business Fair has features that will empower small businesses and provide owners with innovative ways to improve their business. The platform will also equip business owners with skills, through business activities, to explore opportunities that will further advance their businesses.
Mayor Gumede said the Municipality recently launched the Radical Economic Transformation Framework, which details the City’s commitment to growing the small business sector as SMMEs play a pivotal role in growing the economy.
“Our commitment is to ensure that the sector progressively increases its contribution towards growth and performance of the City’s economy, particularly in critical areas such as job creation, poverty alleviation, equity and access to markets,” she added.
At the Regional Business Fair, participants will have the opportunity to attend seminars to improve their business knowledge. The Fair is also an ideal environment for business owners to network and gain insight on ways to sustain their businesses during times of economic instability.
Business owners who wish to showcase their businesses and are interested in participating are encouraged to register now.
